Outreach Update
The MLK Lay Clergy group met on November 21 to begin the discussion of housing in the Indianapolis area. Several guests were invited to the meeting to share knowledge and provide guidance as the group began to address this housing crisis. The guests represented the Indiana Realtors and the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership. The MLK staff began the presentation by sharing their mission and what they are currently doing in the area of transitional housing. The guests then offered tools that could be of use to the neighborhood center as well as ideas on how the Lay Clergy group could support the center. The meeting concluded with a plan to continue the discussion in December. The December meeting will focus on a way to broaden the knowledge of our faith communities on this topic and in a way to include a wider audience in the discussion of housing in Indianapolis.
