Where is Jeff? June 8

Father Jeff is following the Ignatian Camino in Spain from June 2-30. This week, he is leaving the city of Loyola - with its mountainous terrain, pleasant trails, green forests and steep inclines. He will have the chance to discover the secrets of this land where sturdy and creative men and women have gone before him. He will pass through the city of Argantzazu on his way to Vitoria. Vitoria is the seat of government and capital of Basque Country. The town has some of the best preserved medieval streets and plazas and has two cathedrals. It is also home to many acclaimed wineries. The level of sunshine is low here, by Spanish standards, and the climate is humid year-round. Jeff will travel on to Laguardia, which is located in the province of Alava. It lies over a hill and is surrounded by a wall that King Sancha the Strong ordered built; the city has an ancient touch. The main strength of the region is the wine industry where wine is elaborated and processed in numerous wineries. As Jeff proceeds on his journey he will begin his pilgrimage with great courage and a spirit of generosity. In week one of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, individuals are invited to examine their life to identify and let go of a specific sin or personal flaw. It will be an introspective and adventurous first week!
